Lasagna pan (13x9 inch)
- 🍝 San Giorgio Lasagna Noodles
- 9 –12 San Giorgio lasagna noodles or oven-ready version
- 🍖 Classic Meat Sauce
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- Salt pepper, oregano, basil to taste
- Optional: pinch of sugar red chili flakes
- 🧀 Cheese Mixture
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella
- ½ cup grated Parmesan
- 1 egg
- Salt + pinch of nutmeg optional
- 🥬 Optional Add-Ins
- Spinach mushrooms, roasted red peppers
Prepare Meat Sauce : Sauté onion & garlic in olive oil until soft. Add ground meat; brown and drain excess fat. Stir in tomatoes and tomato paste. Season with herbs, salt, pepper; simmer 30–45 mins.
Boil Lasagna Noodles :Boil noodles in salted water until al dente (8–10 mins). , (Skip this step if using oven-ready noodles.)
Mix the Cheese Blend: In a bowl, combine ricotta, egg, Parmesan, 1 cup mozzarella, salt, and nutmeg.
Assemble the Lasagna: Spread a layer of sauce on bottom of a 13x9-inch baking dish. Layer noodles → cheese mixture → sauce. Repeat layers 3–4 times, ending with sauce and topping with remaining mozzarella.
Bake: Cover with foil. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes covered. Remove foil and bake 10–15 minutes uncovered until golden and bubbly.
Rest: Let sit for 10–15 minutes before slicing for clean layers.
