Ingredients

  • 4 beef steaks sirloin, ribeye, or chuck – about 6 oz each
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion thinly sliced
  • 3 –4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 can 14 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • ½ cup dry white wine or beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
  • Optional: capers or olives for added depth

Instructions

  • Season the steaks on both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Sear the steaks in olive oil over medium-high heat until browned (about 2 mins per side). Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, sauté onions until soft. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  • Deglaze with wine or beef broth, scraping up any browned bits.
  • Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Return the steaks to the pan. Cover and simmer on low for 20–25 minutes, or until tender.
  • Optional: Stir in a pat of butter before serving for a silky finish.
  • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley. Serve with pasta, salad, or low-carb sides.

Notes

🍴 Serving Suggestions
Over spaghetti or penne
With zoodles or cauliflower mash (keto-friendly)
Alongside a fresh deli-style salad
💡 Notes
Swap the steak with boneless pork or chicken for a twist.
Add capers or olives for extra flavor.
A pinch of sugar helps balance the acidity of the tomatoes.
